Mauritius Debt Sustainability Analysis (DSA) 

Background & Context 

The intervention supported the Government of Mauritius’s macro‑fiscal management agenda by contributing to the strengthening of analytical capacity related to public debt. It responded to the government’s interest in applying internationally recognised debt sustainability methodologies to inform fiscal management and policy decision‑making.

Objective 

To support the Government of Mauritius to undertake a comprehensive Debt Sustainability Analysis (DSA) and strengthen institutional capacity on debt sustainability analysis. 

Approach & Scope of Support 

PFRC supported the preparation of a DSA aligned with the IMF’s Sovereign Risk and Debt Sustainability Framework (SRDSF) for Market Access Countries. Alongside production of the DSA, the intervention included targeted capacity‑building support to strengthen institutional capacity on debt sustainability analysis. 

Outcomes / Emerging Impact 

“The project supported the Ministry of Finance in strengthening analytical capacity on public debt. The DSA provided a structured analysis of Mauritius debt landscape to support informed fiscal planning and debt management discussions, contributing to strengthened macro‑fiscal analysis over the medium term.
